House fire at 6251 John May Drive

KNOXVILLE -- Today at 11:49 AM, the Knox County Emergency Communications District received a call from a female caller advising her house was on fire and that she was evacuating the house.
On arrival of KFD, heavy smoke was reported coming from the home. Quint 17 made a fast attack on the fire that was located in the rear of the structure. Initial crews were able to knock down the bulk of the fire within 8 minutes of arrival.

Two adults and two children occupied the home, along with several dogs.
The female occupant stated that her smoke alarms alerted her to the fire, and she was able to self-evacuate herself and her two children.
The home has sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage.
The Knoxville Fire Department Investigators are on the scene working to determine a cause.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
