House fire at 1926 Dandridge Avenue believed to be arson

KNOXVILLE -- At 12:25 today, a passerby saw smoke coming from a house and called Knox County 9-1-1. When KFD arrived on the scene, there was light smoke showing.
When firefighters entered the home for an offensive attack, fire was found in the laundry room. The quick response of the fire crews mitigated the incident quickly. The fire was contained to the one room with some vertical extension. The home suffered some fire, water and smoke damage.
A family was in the home at the time. Each was able to safely exit the house.
There were no injuries sustained. There were no audible smoke detectors going off.
The fire is under investigation by the Arson Division.
