CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee – The spectacle Moccasin Bend’s sweeping curve in the Tennessee River greets you when you open your balcony door at the RiverView Inn on Lookout Mountain. Every room has this view of one of the Tennessee’s iconic locations. This classic tourist court was built in 1935 as Sky Harbor Resort and has played a supporting role for a trio of enduring American roadside attractions – Ruby Falls, Rock City and the Incline Railway – that are its neighbors on Lookout Mountain.

It’s a tiny property, only 10 rooms, which is a bonus as travelers begin emerging from coronavirus-induced isolation. Social distancing is no problem. The appealing back-in-time exterior was enhanced with the 2018 completion of a major restoration project that included new bathrooms, updated furnishings and other amenities. A heated saltwater swimming pool is an extra touch. With that renovation project came the new name of the RiverView Inn. One amenity that never will change, of course, is Moccasin Bend.
