MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A statue of Elvis Presley in downtown Memphis provides visitors with ever-changing angles and lighting to capture the essence of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The normal number of memory-making photographers rises exponentially every year during Elvis Week, this year Aug. 9-17, when fans from around the world celebrate his career and memory. The statue is in Elvis Presley Plaza on Beale Street between South 2nd Street and South Main Street.

Elvis Presley Enterprises organizes a variety of activities at Presley’s mansion, Graceland, and the Guest House at Graceland hotel. Activities include an auction of Presley-related memorabilia, a tribute artist contest, concerts and panel discussions, all to mark the 42nd anniversary of Presley’s death, Aug. 16, 1977. The signature event of the week is a candlelight vigil at Graceland’s front gate starting at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Among the year-round attractions that pay tribute to Presley are the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, just blocks from the Beale Street statue.
