The University of Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame welcomed its 2019 induction class during a dinner ceremony Friday night at the Student Union.

The Class of 2019 featured Doug Dickey (coach/administrator), R.A. Dickey (baseball), Christine Magnuson (women's swimming), Charles A. "Gus" Manning (administrator), Tony Parrilla (men's track & field) and Candace Parker (women's basketball).

Tennessee Director of Athletics Phillip Fulmer presented each inductee with commemorative plaque, and inductees also received a Hall of Fame ring.

During his remarks, Fulmer noted that the Class of 2019 combined to account for 17 SEC Championships, eight national championships and 39 All-America certificates.

The Lettermen's T Club took an active role in Friday's event—emceed by Buck Jones—as broadcaster Mickey Dearstone was formally granted "honorary member" status for his longtime service.

Dearstone has been broadcasting Lady Vols basketball games since the 1999-2000 academic year. Before that, he occasionally subbed for Bob Kesling on Lady Vols broadcasts until Kesling replaced John Ward in 1999. Dearstone, who also called play-by-play for Tennessee softball for several seasons, works solo, brilliantly painting a one-voice image of the action taking place on the basketball court. For 36 years, Dearstone worked at the Knoxville-area Cumulus radio stations, serving as the longtime program director and morning-drive sports talk host on WNML.

Recently retired Tennessee Athletics senior administrator Donna Thomas also was recognized during Friday's ceremony for her longtime oversight of the Hall of Fame as well as her efforts to make the new Doug Dickey Hall of Fame Plaza a reality.

The purpose of the Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Tennessee Athletics.

Membership in the University of Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame is based on a former student-athlete's intercollegiate career at the University of Tennessee. Student-athletes are eligible for induction 10 years after their collegiate eligibility expires, and staff are eligible five years after retirement from or leaving employment of the University of Tennessee. Student-athletes and/or staff may be inducted posthumously.

Bandit Lites, Springboard, Always in Bloom and Above the Rest are among the local partners that helped make Friday's induction ceremony memorable.
