Dobson's Record Relief Sends Scots Past Mounties 10-7

MARYVILLE -- The Maryville College baseball team used a record breaking relief appearance to help push them past Mt. Aloysius 10-7 in a non-conference challenge on Scotland Yard this afternoon.

Senior left-hand pitcher Wes Dobson eclipsed the MC career appearance mark en route to earning the win on the mound for the Scots. The senior from Cartersville, Georgia now has 50 appearances on the mound for the orange and garnet. Dobson worked four innings, scattered five hits and allowed only one earned run. Dobson relieved Matt Dyer who tossed five innings while surrendering ten hits. The Mounties tallied six runs off Dyer, but only three were earned due to MC miscues.

Defensive flaws helped MC take the decision as the Scots took advantage of five Mounties errors. Only six of Maryville's 10 runs were earned on the day.

Maryville (7-5) was paced offensively by Blake Gentry and Nick Dean. Each player went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI. Landon Talley went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Mikee Moore, Andrew Mabini, and Garrett Gresham each drove in a run to help the Scots. Maryville tallied a dozen hits off of five Mt. Aloysius hurlers.

The Mounties fall to 0-3 on the season as they continue south to play during spring break.

The Scots will return to action this upcoming Tuesday when they host Carson-Newman College on Scotland Yard. The first-pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.
