KNOXVILLE - Tennessee State Representative Elaine Davis (R-District 18) is sounding the alarm about the overwhelming amount of out-of-state campaign contributions her opponent, Bryan Goldberg, has received. She warns that out-of-state donors will dilute the voices and priorities of Knox County voter.
Since February 16 of this year, 3,368 out-of-state donors have contributed to Bryan Goldberg’s campaign. This amounts to 87% of all his donors. Approximately one-third of these out-of-state donors are from California.
Rep. Davis stated, “When a campaign is being fueled overwhelmingly by out-of-state donors, that’s not just a red flag, it’s a blaring siren. I was shocked to learn that 87% of my opponent Bryan Goldberg’s donors, more than 3,300 people, are out-of-state. One-third of those donors are from California. We cannot let radical out-of-state donors choose our Tennessee elected officials. Who is Bryan Goldberg beholden to? Why does he want to spread California misery to Tennessee?”
Davis continued, “I have always put Tennesseans first, and I have a record to prove it. Goldberg has empty promises and a radical network of out-of-state donors that don’t align with Tennessee values. It is an honor to serve the people of District 18, and I will continue working to make our community and our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family. My commitment remains rooted in the Tennessee values that have always guided my service: Faith, Family, Freedom.”
Tennessee State Rep. Elaine Davis has been serving the voters of the 18th District for the last four years. She has a strong record of fiscal discipline, fighting to eliminate the 4% grocery tax, enacting a grocery state sales tax holiday, investing in infrastructure and public education, and protecting our communities.
