KNOXVILLE - During his Weekly Update today, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about the Children’s Festival of Reading and more.
This week, Mayor Jacobs attended a memorial honoring three unclaimed veterans. Thanks to the East Tennessee Regional Forensic Center, Berry Funeral Home, and the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, unclaimed or homeless veterans at the Forensic Center are given a burial with full military honors.
“These ceremonies are always profoundly emotional as we remember the lives and service of these individuals,” says Mayor Jacobs. “Thank you to everyone who makes these memorials possible."
He also invites families to the 20th annual Children’s Festival of Reading which is coming up on May 16th at World’s Fair Park. Festival goers can enjoy arts and crafts, food vendors, music and storytimes, science and sports demos, hands-on activities from community organizations, and the beloved Parade of Books. More information can be found on the library’s website.
Those unable to attend this year’s Budget Address can watch live at knoxcounty.org.
