KNOXVILLE - During his Weekly Update today, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about golf, the Savannah Bananas, CrossFit, and more.

Mayor Jacobs reflected on a successful weekend for tourism and sports in Knox County. The Savannah Bananas played two games in Knoxville, including an appearance at Neyland Stadium that drew more than 101,000 fans.

In addition, the Visit Knoxville Open at Holston Hills Country Club once again showcased future PGA golfers as part of the Korn Ferry Tour. Mayor Jacobs highlights tournament winner Doc Redman’s dramatic playoff victory.

“Doc Redman won this year’s tournament in dramatic fashion, sinking a 40-foot putt for Eagle in a playoff,” said Mayor Jacobs.

Mayor Jacobs also notes that the Barn Short Course at Beverly Park will begin offering night play on Fridays and Saturdays starting next weekend thanks to newly installed lights.

For this weekend, Mayor Jacobs encourages residents to attend the Syndicate Crown CrossFit event at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. Now in its fourth year, the competition serves as one of only 12 in-person semifinals for the 2026 CrossFit Games.
