KNOXVILLE - Zoo Knoxville is thrilled to announce the return of Smoky Night Lights this spring, restoring the highly anticipated 360-degree nighttime show after temporary closure due to storm damage. In December 2025, a powerful windstorm caused significant destruction when a large tree fell on the Timber Loop boardwalk, damaging a key part of the infrastructure essential for this enchanting experience.
In light of the damage, Zoo Knoxville prioritized guest safety by temporarily closing the event while assessments and repairs were conducted. Bill Street, President and CEO of Zoo Knoxville, expressed gratitude towards the team’s dedication: “Over the last several months, our team has worked incredibly hard to repair the boardwalk, reinstall the show, and bring this experience back for the community. We’re excited to give guests another chance to experience Smoky Night Lights this season.”
Smoky Night Lights offers an immersive experience inspired by the breathtaking natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. With synchronized lighting, animation, and music, the show envelops visitors in a vibrant celebration of the Smokies, making it a unique evening outing for families and guests.
In addition to providing a memorable experience, Smoky Night Lights supports Zoo Knoxville’s crucial mission of wildlife conservation, education, and animal care, emphasizing the zoo's commitment to both its visitors and the environment. As spring approaches, families and visitors can look forward to enjoying this captivating event once again.
The show will reopen Friday, March 20, 2026. A limited number of event nights and special reduced ticket pricing will be available. Guests can find the full schedule, event details, and purchase tickets at zooknoxville.org.
