KNOXVILLE - During his Weekly Update, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about Operation Hero’s Hill fundraising events and a new community service program launched by the Knox County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office.
Mayor Jacobs highlights two successful fundraising events that benefited Operation Hero’s Hill last weekend.
Knox County Parks and Recreation Director Joe Mack and his team hosted the Operation Hero’s Hill Wood Bat Classic at Knox County SportsPark. The event also marked the grand reopening of the Sportspark with new artificial turf fields.
Mayor Jacobs also recognized the success of the Operation Hero’s Hill motorcycle ride sponsored by Rusty Wallace Auto Group.
“It was an overwhelming success, raising more than $100,000! Big thank you to Rusty and his team, all the other sponsors, and, of course, the riders!” says Mayor Jacobs.
In addition, Mayor Jacobs praises Knox County Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond and his staff for implementing a first-of-its-kind program in Tennessee. The program allows eligible participants to satisfy court debt through community service work with nonprofit organizations.
“Some of the participants are now eligible to get their driver’s licenses renewed, which is a big step towards gainful employment,” says Mayor Jacobs. “Good work by Knox County Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond and his team.” |
