KNOXVILLE - On Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:16 a.m., the Knoxville Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 2400 block of Woodbine Avenue.
Fire crews arrived to find a fire on the front porch of the residence and quickly brought the fire under control, preventing further damage to the home.
Knoxville Fire Investigators and officers with the Knoxville Police Department responded to the scene and determined the fire had been intentionally set following a domestic disturbance that occurred inside the residence.
Officers were able to quickly locate the suspect nearby and took him into custody without incident.
Following their investigation, fire investigators determined that the fire originated on the front porch and was intentionally ignited. As a result, 36-year-old Travis Deshawn Mitchell has been charged with one count of Aggravated Arson. Additional charges are pending.
Mitchell is currently being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
