Governor Bill Lee points out the highlights of his statewide America 250 tour.
NASHVILLE - Today, Governor Bill Lee released a video recapping his statewide America 250 tour.
Governor Bill Lee’s America 250 tour stands as a vivid reminder of Tennessee’s vital role in the fabric of our nation’s history. By visiting every county across the state—from the Appalachian peaks of Mountain City to the vibrant streets of Memphis—Governor Lee and First Lady Maria have rekindled the Volunteer Spirit that has long defined Tennessee. This spirit embodies values of faith, freedom, and service that are as relevant today as they were at our nation’s founding.
As Tennesseans prepare to celebrate Independence Day, Governor Lee’s journey invites each of us to pause and reflect on the enduring legacy within our communities. The tour not only honored Tennessee’s rich agricultural roots by beginning with historic farms but also reinforced the deep connection between our local stories and America’s larger narrative.
By concluding the tour in Van Buren County—the very place where his gubernatorial campaign first took flight—Governor Lee symbolizes the power of dedication and the importance of remembering where we started as we move boldly forward. Now is the time for every Tennessean to embrace this shared heritage, cherish the freedoms we enjoy, and commit anew to serving our neighbors and nation. Together, we can honor the past and shape a promising future for Tennessee and America.
As America 250 celebrations continue, Tennessee is proudly participating in the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Through July 10, visitors are invited to Tennessee’s “The Original Frontier” pavilion, where guests can experience interactive exhibits highlighting the state’s musical heritage, agricultural legacy, iconic brands, and the Volunteer Spirit that continues to shape America.
Admission to the Great American State Fair is free and open to the public. More information is available here.
In his video, Governor Lee stated:
Over the past several months, Maria and I have had the honor of celebrating 250 years of American independence by traveling to all 95 counties — from Mountain City to Memphis — visiting schools and Century Farms, courthouses and town squares, and Tennessee State Parks – meeting the remarkable people who make Tennessee the best state in the nation.
And in every county, we’ve seen the same thing: the hardworking Americans who are rooted in their communities, carry the Volunteer Spirit, and believe in the promise of this country.
As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, it’s also a time to reflect on the extraordinary story of our nation — a country founded on freedom, shaped by courage and sacrifice, and always striving toward a more perfect union.
Since the very beginning, Tennessee has been “The Original Frontier.” Today, we continue to guide America’s story as a frontier for patriotism, innovation, and opportunity.
And thanks to the people of our state, our best days are still ahead.
