KNOX COUNTY, TN - During his Weekly Update, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about touring various juvenile treatment centers and Lumen Flats. He also talked about the County’s preparations for the winter storm expected to bring snow, sleet, and ice to the area this weekend.
County road crews began applying brine to roadways Wednesday and by Friday afternoon, will have spread more than 100,000 gallons. Knox County Engineering and Public Works crews will return late Friday night or early Saturday morning to begin snow and ice removal operations.
“Knox County maintains 2,200 lane miles of road,” Mayor Jacobs said. “To put that in context, that’s enough mileage for a two-lane road that would reach Denver, Colorado.”
Mayor Jacobs encouraged residents to monitor weather conditions, limit travel when possible, and stay informed through local news and official social media channels. He also urged residents to prepare by having essentials on hand, keeping electronic devices charged, and using alternative heating sources safely to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning and house fires.
