KNOX COUNTY, TN - During Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs' Weekly Update, he talked about attending the Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Breakfast, recognizing a longtime Knox County Election Commission employee, and the County’s preparations for another winter storm expected to bring frigid temperatures and up to six inches of snow this weekend.
With a winter storm warning in effect, Mayor Jacobs outlined Knox County’s response process for snow and ice events. Engineering and Public Works crews began spreading brine ahead of the storm and will continue efforts as conditions warrant. Knox County maintains 2,200 lane miles of road, making winter weather response a large and complex effort.
“As much as I wish we could know what mother nature is going to do ahead of time, we don’t so we make the best decision based on the information that we have at that particular time,” says Mayor Jacobs.
Mayor Jacobs encourages residents to prepare ahead of the storm by limiting travel when possible and using resources such as Ready.gov and RedCross.org for winter weather preparedness information. He also noted that staying off the road during winter storms helps our crews clear roadways more quickly and safely.
