KNOXVILLE - The Knox County Home Rehabilitation Program (KCHR) is now providing no cost customized home improvements for adults aged 62 years and older. KCHR helps income eligible homeowners fix critical health, safety, and mobility accommodative needs within their home. Improvements may include grab bars, accessibility ramps, comfort-height toilets, and addressing tripping hazards.

KCHR is a grant funded program of Knox County’s Grant and Community Development department. It helps eligible homeowners, including those younger than 62, make important repairs to their homes. The program is designed to strengthen the long-term quality of housing throughout Knox County. To qualify for older adult home modifications, as well as other repairs through the KCHR, the applicant must own and occupy a home within Knox County (outside the limits of the City of Knoxville and Town of Farragut) and meet income guidelines based on household size. Additional program information and eligibility requirements can be found at KnoxHousingAssistance.org.

How to Apply:
Homeowners can access the application online at KnoxHousingAssistance.org. Program staff are available to assist residents with questions by calling 865-215-3983 or emailing knoxhousingassistance@knoxcounty.org.

Applications will be accepted until the program’s project queue is full or all funding has been committed.
