KNOXVILLE, TN - Remote Area Medical (RAM®) is recognized as the nation's largest provider of free pop-up healthcare clinics, dedicated to delivering essential dental, vision, and medical care to underserved populations. Their annual free clinic in Knoxville, held from February 6-8, is a testament to this mission, providing comprehensive healthcare services to over 1,220 patients.

The clinic, which took place at the Jacob Building, delivered an impressive value of care exceeding $1,119,500. This significant achievement was made possible through the support of organizations such as Sensodyne, Haleon, and Walmart. Patients attending the clinic received a wide array of services, including free dental cleanings, tooth extractions, fillings, general medical exams, eye exams, and even free glasses that were made on-site.

One of the defining features of RAM's clinics is their commitment to accessibility; no identification or insurance is required for patients to receive care. This approach ensures that anyone in need can access the services provided, fostering an environment of inclusivity and support. The demand is so high that many patients camped overnight in their cars the Thursday before the clinic opened, eager to secure their place for treatment when doors opened early Friday morning.

The success of these clinics is largely attributed to the dedication and hard work of volunteers. Over 1,350 individuals, including dentists, hygienists, doctors, nurses, and optometrists, offered their time and expertise throughout the weekend to ensure that patients received the quality care they deserve. General support volunteers played a crucial role as well, contributing to the clinic's efficient operation.

Founded in 1985 by Stan Brock, RAM has been a beacon of hope for those lacking access to healthcare. As the organization approaches its 40th anniversary in 2025, it stands proud with the motto “Celebrating 40 years of health, hope, and humanity,” reflecting its ongoing commitment to providing essential healthcare services to communities in need.
