KNOXVILLE - Early this morning, the Knox County 911 center received a call reporting a kitchen fire at 207 Fern Street in East Knoxville. Upon arrival, the first Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) engine company observed smoke emanating from the front of the residence.
KFD Engine 6 promptly entered the home and located a small fire in the kitchen near the stove. The crew efficiently extinguished the flames, successfully containing the fire to the kitchen area.
The residential structure, occupied by seven individuals—four adults and three children—sustained minor fire, water, and smoke damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Knoxville Fire Department’s investigations unit remained on scene to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the American Red Cross is providing assistance to the affected family.
The Knoxville Fire Department reminds residents to ensure smoke detectors are functional and to practice kitchen safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
