KNOX COUNTY, TN - During his Weekly Update today, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs talked about the county’s latest dog park, a new initiative by the Health Department, Wreathes Across America Day, and more.
Mayor Jacobs hosted the annual Waffle House Christmas Breakfast for Knox County employees, earlier this week, thanking “the folks who do the real work in making Knox County government an organization that I am extremely proud of.”
Additionally, the mayor and local leaders, including UT President Randy Boyd, cut the ribbon for Knox County’s newest dog park at the SportsPark in Karns. Thanks to a generous donation from the Boyd Family Foundation, the county has constructed four new dog parks over the past several years, with one more scheduled for Clayton Park in Halls.
Knox County is not only the best place to live, work, and raise a family, it’s also a great place for dogs and their humans,” Mayor Jacobs adds.
He also notes that the Knox County Health Department partnered with Knox County Schools and the Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department to build a new walking path that recently debuted at Whittle Springs Middle School. The project, paid for with a state grant, is designed to create a safe route for students to walk to and from school.
Finally, tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 13, is Wreaths Across America Day. Volunteers will place wreaths on headstones at all three of Knox County’s veteran’s cemeteries. Thanks to the generosity of so many supporters, every headstone will be covered with a wreath once again this year.
