KNOXVILLE - Late last night, around 11:30 PM, the Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) sprang into action, responding to a series of storm-related emergencies that rattled our community. Powerful winds uprooted trees, sending them crashing into homes and downing power lines across the area.

One of the most dramatic scenes unfolded on Towanda Trail in West Knoxville, where a tree struck a residence, leaving one occupant briefly trapped inside. Thanks to the quick and efficient efforts of KFD members, the individual was safely extricated despite the home's significant damage. It’s a testament to the bravery and skill of our first responders during such challenging times.

Not far away, another home on John May Drive in the Northwest community also faced heavy destruction from the storm's fury. Thankfully, occupants from both residences have received assistance from the American Red Cross and support from family members, helping them navigate this unexpected crisis.

In addition to the tree accidents, KFD was busy attending to two motor vehicle incidents as well as several fire alarms triggered by the storm, showcasing the far-reaching impact of the severe weather.

As we assess the aftermath of this evening's storm, let us extend our gratitude to our emergency responders for their tireless dedication and remind our neighbors of the importance of community support in trying times. Stay safe, Knoxville!
