KNOX COUNTY - Today, at approximately 11:35 am, KCCD 911 was notified of a church at 2122 Dayton Street that had smoke coming from the windows. The first crew on scene saw smoke coming from the eaves and quickly gained access through the front door, extinguishing most of the fire. The fire was deemed under control by 11:45 am.

The church, Gethsemane Primitive Baptist Church, suffered fire, significant water, and extensive smoke damage. The building does not appear to be in active use.

There are no injuries to report, and all companies were back in service by 12:30 pm. KFD investigators will remain on scene to try and determine a cause.
