Dear Editor:
What a joy to learn that the movement to declaw the cartel-like monopoly that has become the NCAA has Republican friends in the South.
The NCAA added to what Senator Blackburn rightfully described as decisions "that produce unfair punishments for athletes, coaches and universities" when it stripped NC State swimmer Owen Lloyd of his title at the ACC championships last week.
If I was downsizing the NCAA, my first act would be return the association to its original mission of promoting college athletics, hosting post-season tournaments, establishing uniform rules for competition, and overseeing the health and safety of student athletes.
My second act would be handing pink slips to current NCAA President Mark Emmert and all of his six figure salaried executives.that say "your services are no longer required".
