Commercial building fire at Handy Dandy Market

KNOXVILLE - This morning, at 7:58 a.m., the Knox County Emergency Communications Center received a call about a reported fire at the Handy Dandy Market, located at 3215 South Haven Road.

The caller advised the fire was in a cooler. The store was open at the time of the 911 call.

On arrival of KFD Quint 10, the Officer reported smoke and fire coming from the front door of the structure. The KFD Quint 10 Crew made an interior attack on the building and was able to knock down the bulk of the fire quickly. The crew reported that the fire appeared contained in a cooler in the center of the building. Within 10 minutes of arrival, the Incident Commander declared the fire under control.

The building has suffered heavy smoke damage and moderate to minimal water and fire damage. No Injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation.
