Fatal house fire at 2111 Dodson Avenue; KFD
KNOX COUNTY - This morning at 3:07 AM, Knox County Emergency Communications District received a 911 call reporting a house was on fire at the intersection of Dodson Avenue and N. Bertrand Street. The caller advised that the house was “ fully engulfed in fire.” A second caller reported that his neighbor's home was on fire.
On arrival of KFD Quint 4, the officer reported heavy fire in a single-story residential structure. The officer stated this would be exterior-only firefighting operations.
House was a total loss; KFD
At 3:44 AM, the Incident Commander deemed the fire under control and that an extensive overhaul of the scene would be needed. KFD units began a search of the residence for any possible fire victims.
At 3:58 AM, KFD located a single deceased victim inside the structure. This person has not been positively identified at this time. KFD also found a deceased dog inside the home.
No working smoke alarms were located inside the structure.
The home is a total loss.
Knoxville Fire Investigators are on the scene working to determine a cause. This will likely take considerable time due to the extensive fire damage to the structure.
