Downtown roads temporarily closed this weekend for Knox Pride parade, festival
September 28, 2022


KNOXVILLE -- Knox Pride Parade and Festival is this weekend, with a parade on Gay Street on the evening of Friday, Sept. 30, and a festival on the World’s Fair Park on Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2. Temporary road closures will be in effect during both events.


Friday, Sept. 30: Knox Pride Parade

Eastbound lanes of Howard Baker Jr. Avenue will be closed from 4 to 9 p.m. Other streets on the route -- Howard Baker Jr. Avenue to Church Avenue, Church Avenue to Gay Street, ending at the intersection with Magnolia Avenue – will close at 6:30 p.m. and reopen at the end of the parade, approximately 9 p.m.

The parade steps off from the Coliseum parking lots at 7 p.m.

Prior to and during the parade, street parking will be unavailable or limited in these locations:

• Gay Street between Church Street and Magnolia Avenue
• Church Ave. between Gay Street & Hall of Fame Drive
• Magnolia Ave. between Gay and Ogden streets
• Market St. between Union Ave. & Clinch Avenue
• Union Ave. between Walnut and Gay streets


Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2: Knox Pride Festival

During Knox Pride Festival on the World’s Fair Park, these roads will be closed:

• World’s Fair Park Drive between Grand and Clinch avenues, from 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 to 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

• Clinch Ave. Bridge between World’s Fair Park Drive and Henley Street from 12 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 1, and 12 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Free parking is available after 6 p.m. at all City-owned garages, including the Dwight Kessel, State Street, Market Square and Walnut Street garages. View parking options at DowntownKnoxville.org/parking or download the Parkopedia app at Parkopedia.com.
