Advance Auto Parts partners with Knoxville Police Department to launch vehicle safety program

KNOXVILLE -- Advance Auto Parts has partnered with the Knoxville Police Department to launch a unique program designed to increase vehicle safety for motorists in the Knoxville community. The announcement was made today at Advance’s location on 106 Market Place Boulevard.

As part of the program, Advance’s store team presented the Knoxville Police Department with an Advance gift card donation of $1,000. Knoxville Police Officers will distribute $10 gift cards to local motorists stopped with equipment violations, allowing them to safely repair the faulty equipment without having to incur the cost of a citation.

“Our store team in Knoxville is thrilled to partner with the Knoxville Police Department to promote roadway safety,” said Mike Giotto, Advance’s vice president of operations. “For a vehicle to safely operate, it is imperative that all equipment is working properly. This partnership will play a large role in accomplishing that. We are grateful for everything Knoxville Police does to serve this community and look forward to witnessing the impact that results from this partnership.”

“We have a responsibility to enforce the laws, but we can do that in ways that are not punitive,” said Knoxville Chief of Police Paul Noel. “The purpose of traffic enforcement is to change behavior, and this partnership will help motorists repair mechanical defects in their vehicle without the financial burden and allow our officers to interact with those motorists in a positive manner.”
