Tennessee school administrator calls local school curriculum “progressive”
April 12, 2022
Washington, DC -- Following its revealing video of Tennessee educators candidly admitting how easy it is for teachers to teach Critical Race Theory, Accuracy in Media has released extended footage, showing more candid revelations about the teaching of Critical Race Theory in Marion County.
Kimberly Shurett of the Marion County Board of Education said their curriculum is “extremely progressive,” especially in their “equity pieces,” a code word for Critical Race Theory.
In a video released last week, numerous Tennessee school officials describe how teachers are still able to indoctrinate students despite a ban on CRT by the state legislature.
“It is astonishing that Marion County, Donald Trump won in 2020 by a margin of 75% to 25%, would tolerate flouting this policy,” said Accuracy in Media President Adam Guillette. “Marion Count officials accused our videos of taking information out of context. We invite them to review the expanded footage and comment.”
“Tennessee is one of seven states to ban Critical Race Theory, but as we have seen from these administrators, the law did not affect them,” said Mr. Guillette. “Even if the law had been perfectly crafted, teachers could close the door and do whatever they want.
