All students in the inaugural graduating cohort of South College Atlanta’s Certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program passed on first attempt the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) and earned the LPN title.

“The exceptional performance of our LPN graduates on their national examinations further bolsters South College’s reputation as a premier educational institution for students seeking to enter health professions,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “We are proud to see students take advantage of the excellent education and training opportunities at South College so that they may succeed in their new careers.”

The South College Atlanta certificate program in Licensed Practical Nursing earned approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing in May 2019. The first classes started in June 2020.

“The fact that 100% of the inaugural LPN class passed the NCLEX-PN on their first attempt is extraordinary,” South College Atlanta President Josh Huffaker said. “This confirms that our didactic courses, clinical training, faculty, and external partners are preparing our graduates to succeed.”

The national exam assesses the application and analysis of knowledge that students learn in school and ensures entry-level nurses can make clinical judgments and meet the needs of patients. It is the final component of the licensure process.

South College Atlanta is accepting applications for the next Certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing cohort, which starts January 2022. To learn more about South College’s academic programs and financial assistance, visit www.south.edu.
