KCHD’s Service Spotlight: KCHD resumes #WeCanForLeeann campaign
October 26, 2021
Effort created to promote flu vaccination in memory
of
beloved wife, mother
KNOXVILLE — The Knox County Health Department (KCHD) has resumed its annual #WeCanForLeeann
Campaign aimed at promoting flu vaccination. In 2014, Don Samples tragically lost his wife of 22 years to the flu. After Leeann’s death, he sought to honor her memory by encouraging friends, family and the community to do the one thing she didn’t – get a flu vaccine.
The community is encouraged to post a photo on social media after getting the flu vaccine with the hashtag #WeCanForLeeann. More information, including a short film about Don and Leeann, as well as the annual campaign is available at knoxcounty.org/health/WeCanForLeeann/.
The Knox County Health Department urges everyone to make plans to get vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19 in order to keep themselves and their loved ones safe and healthy. KCHD is currently offering flu shot, flu mist and high-dose flu vaccine at the Main, West, and Teague locations.
KCHD will vaccinate insured and uninsured adults and children against the flu at no cost to the patient, although insurance information will be requested, if available.
KCHD is also offering high-dose flu vaccine at the Knox County Senior Centers during its COVID-19 Community Vaccination Clinics. It’s safe to get both the COVID and flu vaccine during the same visit.
Upcoming Community Vaccine Clinics with high-dose flu vaccine include:
• October 27: Carter Senior Center from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
9036 Asheville Hwy
• October 27: Corryton Senior Center from 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
