Rep. Parkinson elected new Black Caucus chair

NASHVILLE — State Representative Antonio Parkinson of Memphis has been elected Chair of the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Representatives for the 112th General Assembly. Parkinson succeeds Rep. G.A. Hardaway, also of Memphis. Following the election, Parkinson discussed his vision for caucus leadership: “We are in difficult times in our country. It is my goal as chair to focus on core areas that can help our communities to navigate through this pandemic. Those areas are health, the education of our children and finding ways to put more money and resources into the households of the people we represent.”
Other officers elected are:
• Vice-Chairman — Rep. Sam McKenzie of Knoxville
• Treasurer—Rep. - Jesse Chism of Memphis
• Secretary—Sen. - Katrina Robinson of Memphis
The officers will serve a two-year term, concurrent with the 112th General Assembly session.
