KNOXVILLE - Celebrating the rich history and heritage of the late 19th-century textile industry comes the Cumberland House Knoxville, Tapestry Collection By Hilton. This will be a vibrant new destination for travelers set in downtown Knoxville.

Overlooking World’s Fair Park and walking distance from the Knoxville Convention Center and the University of Tennessee, the 130-room property, formerly the Four Points by Sheraton Knoxville Cumberland House Hotel, will debut a remarkable multi-million-dollar transformation when it opens late fall 2020.

The upscale, one-of-a-kind hotel will feature a complete update of interior and exterior areas. Throughout the hotel, small design touches pay nod to Knoxville’s past as a button manufacturing destination. Along with the contemporary design, dining is inspired by the Appalachia region and inviting event and social spaces await.

Contemporary design and convenient features such as TEMPERLOFT beds, spacious spa-like bathrooms with Byredo Gypsy water Bath Amenities, Keurig Coffee Makers, and in-room mini fridges provide the perfect touches of home. For incredible views of downtown Knoxville and the surrounding Cumberland Plateau, the King Suites feature a private balcony.

Cumberland House Knoxville boasts 3,500 square feet of meeting space, including the Pearl Ballroom that connects up to 120 guests in its 1,850 square feet of space, and two 625 square foot meeting rooms: The Standard and The Loom, the Birdsong Ballroom, and 800 square feet of pre-function space for breaks and receptions, along with full-service banquet and catering capabilities to enhance any function. Peachtree Hotel Group has appointed TeDra George as General Manager of the hotel. George joins the Cumberland House Knoxville with nearly two decades of hospitality experience spanning hotel management, sales, marketing, and lifestyle branding. Throughout her career, she has built an exemplary track record of high guest satisfaction, quality assurance, and sales growth for select and full-service properties under her leadership throughout the Southeast United States. In her new role, George will oversee all aspects of operations at the hotel.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Cumberland House Knoxville to introduce a new destination for travelers to this wonderful city. Not only do we have a great team ready to welcome our guests, but everything about this beautiful property is well thought out, intentional, inviting and will surely inspire lasting memories,” says George. “For me, it is truly an honor to see the vision coming to fruition.”

Originally from Alabama, George first got her start in the hospitality industry working at the front desk of a hotel while still a student at Jacksonville University. Since then, her energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for people led her to take new roles from sales director to assistant general manager and general manager at various properties for major hotel companies, resulting in a number of successes from turning around distressed properties to consistently scoring in the top 10 percent of guest services, among other achievements. She is actively involved with the community, working with several organizations, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Habitat for Humanity as well as regional children’s hospitals and animal rescue organizations, including the Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville.

“TeDra has a track record of excellence and success in the hotel industry. Her creativity, foresight and leadership are welcome as we embark in a new chapter for travel with the opening of the Cumberland House Knoxville, Tapestry Collection by Hilton,” says Patrick Short, President of Peachtree Hospitality Management.
