TVA to close some reservoir access roads during winter months

KNOXVILLE – The Tennessee Valley Authority will close several reservoir public access roads to motorized vehicles during low water levels to reduce damage to roadbeds from ATVs and other motorized vehicles in the fall and winter seasons. The roads will remain open to foot traffic at all times.

Affected reservoirs are Boone, Cherokee, Douglas, Hiwassee, Kentucky, Melton Hill, Norris, Nottely and Watts Bar. Access roads will close in November and reopen in April.

Some roads may remain open longer to provide public access for special uses such as hunting or wildlife observation. Public land users are reminded not to block any closed access gates as they may be needed in case of an emergency.
