KNOXVILLE - EyeXcel Performance Vision will host an open house on Saturday, July 11 from 5-7pm to showcase their newly opened Hardin Valley facility and introduce the Knoxville community to performance vision training. The event will feature vision training demonstrations, giveaways, skill competitions, and a Q & A session with Dr. Frank Carusone, O.D.

EyeXcel Performance Vision opened its state-of-the art facility on June 1. The new office is a second location for EyeXcel, an eye care and vision rehabilitation practice that has served the Knoxville area for over 40 years. The facility features traditional exam rooms, as well as Knoxville’s only “performance vision gym,” a 1500 square foot area featuring nearly 30 yards of turf, a half basketball court, and 20ft ceilings.

The comprehensive sports vision program offered by EyeXcel Performance Vision is the first of its kind in East Tennessee. An innovative branch of vision therapy, sports vision training teaches athletes to process and respond to visual stimuli more quickly and accurately. Over 90% of sensory information used by athletes is from their eyes. Coaches and trainers tend to focus only on visual acuity (20/20 vision measurement), which represents only about 5% of visual processing. In other words, without vision therapy, 85% of visual processing is neglected. “The difference between an average athlete and the elite isn’t strength, speed, or agility” says Dr. Carusone. “It’s how they respond to changes on the field, court, or rink. With performance vision training, we can identify and train neuro-cognitive skills to help you take in more information, process it faster, and make game-changing decisions!”

EyeXcel Performance Vision is located at 10252 Hardin Valley Rd. in Knoxville. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call (865) 243-8260 or visit www.eyexceltn.com, follow on Instagram @eyexcelpv, Facebook @EyeXcelTNPerformanceVision.
