TN-02 Democrats unite to defeat Burchett

Chance Brown suspends campaign, endorses Renee Hoyos

KNOXVILLE - Last night, Chance Brown, a Democratic Candidate for Tennessee’s 2nd Congressional District, announced that he was suspending his campaign and fully supporting Renee Hoyos.

“For personal reasons, I am stepping back from the campaign to support Renee Hoyos. We may not always see eye to eye, but I respect her and her campaign,” Brown said in a video released on Tuesday evening. “I think she has a great shot at flipping this district, and I plan to help in any way I can.”

This leaves Hoyos as the sole Democrat remaining in the race and, thus, the presumptive Democratic nominee to defeat incumbent Congressman Tim Burchett in November.

“I’m grateful to Chance for lending this race his voice. I’m honored to have his support, as we fight for a Congress that works for all of East Tennessee,” Hoyos said.

Hoyos continues to build strong momentum heading into the election in November. Having already outraised her incumbent opponent last quarter, Hoyos has assembled a campaign team of over 30 people, who have already contacted more than 60,000 district residents.

Renee Hoyos is the Democratic candidate for Tennessee's Second Congressional District in Congress in 2020.

For 14 years, Hoyos served as the executive director of the Tennessee Clean Water Network where she successfully sued corporate polluters, took on powerful special interests, advocated for major changes to government policy, and installed lead-free drinking water fountains at schools across Tennessee.
