City offices closed for July 4 holiday

KNOXVILLE - City of Knoxville offices will be closed Friday, July 3, 2020, for the July 4th holiday. Be advised of the following holiday-related changes:

Waste Connections will run its normal residential garbage and recycling routes; Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only days when residential curbside trash and recycling are not picked up as scheduled. Crews will collect downtown trash and recyclables on its regular schedule over the holiday weekend.

The City's five recycling drop-off centers will be open this weekend, but the Goodwill attendant will not be on site Saturday, July 4, to receive donations of household goods.

KAT buses and trolleys will run current schedules on July 3, but will not run on Saturday, July 4. On Monday, July 6, KAT will resume operation of its regular routes and schedules, which were modified June 1. Masks and physical distancing protocols will still be in place.

The 311 Center for Service Innovation, which operates the 311 and 211 phone numbers, will be closed Friday. Residents needing to make reports to 311 or access 211 services are encouraged to visit KnoxvilleTN.gov/311 to submit an online request, email 311office@knoxvilletn.gov or go to 211.org. For information on COVID-19 or Census 2020, and to access a list of social services available in our community, residents can use the chatbot at KnoxvilleTN.gov/chat.

The City's Solid Waste Facility, at 1033 Elm St., including the Household Hazardous Waste facility, will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. The July Free-for-City-Residents Day will be held on Saturday, July 11. Until further notice, the Solid Waste Facility only accepts credit or debit cards—no cash.
