TVA seeks public input on Yum Yum solar project

YUM YUM, TN – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public to provide input on a draft Environmental Assessment for the Yum Yum Solar Project in Fayette County. The draft EA evaluates the anticipated environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the solar generating facility and associated electrical connection. The draft EA is available at www.tva.com/nepa.

TVA has entered into a power purchase agreement with Yum Yum Solar LLC to purchase the power generated by the proposed Yum Yum Solar Project. The project is anticipated to include up to 147 megawatts alternating current in generating capacity. The proposed solar facility would be constructed and operated by Yum Yum Solar LLC.

The draft EA includes two alternatives: a No Action Alternative and an Action Alternative. Under the No Action Alternative, TVA would not purchase the power generated by the project under the 20-year PPA with Yum Yum Solar LLC and TVA would not be involved with the project. Under the Action Alternative, Yum Yum Solar would acquire approximately 4,003 acres of land in Fayette County, Tennessee, however the portion proposed for solar development encompasses approximately 2,639 acres to construct, operate, and maintain a single-axis tracking photovoltaic solar power facility of up to 147 MW AC generating capacity.

Comments on the draft EA should be submitted or postmarked no later than Oct. 17, 2019. Comments can be submitted online at www.tva.com/nepa, by email to jtcates@tva.gov, or in writing to J. Taylor Cates, NEPA Specialist, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market Street BR 2C-2 Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Please note that all comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and available for public inspection.
