ATLANTA, GA - Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have selected Wesley Deschaine as the NRC Senior Resident Inspector at the Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plant near Spring City, Tenn., located approximately 60 miles southwest of Knoxville.

Deschaine joins Resident Inspector Jeff Hamman at the two-unit plant, which is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Deschaine joined the NRC in 2007 as a reliability and risk analyst in the agency’s Office of New Reactors in Rockville, Md. He transferred to the Region II office in Atlanta in 2009 as a project engineer for the TVA projects branch and worked as a resident inspector at TVA’s Sequoyah nuclear plant from 2011 to 2018.

Prior to joining the NRC, Deschaine worked as a reliability engineer for Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control Division in Orlando, Fla. Deschaine earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, both in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
