Credit Union Robbery Suspect Arrested

Benjamin Gary Morgan was arrested on Friday, March 4, 2011 on state Bank Robbery charges related to the robbery of the Enrichment Federal Credit Union located at 5201 Schubert Road in Knoxville on, March 3, 2011. At approximately 5:15 p.m. Friday evening, Morgan, age 36, of Knoxville, was arrested at the intersection of Tillery Road and Nichols Drive, without incident, by members of the FBI SSTF and KPD.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Friday evening, the suspect entered the Enrichment Federal Credit Union in Knoxville, and verbally demanded money. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the bank and was observed by a conscientious citizen who reported the suspect departed the area in a white, pickup truck.

Subsequent to an interview of the citizen by law enforcement officials, a description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast over police radios. Following the broadcast, KPD Motor Officer Ron Trentham recognized the suspect vehicle had been involved in an accident at the intersection of Tillery Road and Nichols Drive.
