Dragon Boat Festival opens up for teams
November 23, 2010
Due to immense popularity, the Knoxville Dragon Boat Festival is limiting the number of teams next year. Registration is open for the 9th Annual Knoxville Dragon Boat Festival, benefiting Knox Area Rescue Ministries.
The event will be Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Cove at Concord Park, and is limited to 70 teams. Teams race for prizes and raise money for hope and healing at Knox Area Rescue Ministries. Registration is online at racedragonboats.com.
The most fun, unique cultural event featuring adrenaline-pumping action, dragon boat racing grows in popularity each year. Teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerer race in authentic Hong Kong-style, 46-foot-long dragon boats. All ages, skill levels and physiques can participate, making it the ultimate team building sport, requiring synchronicity and finesse, more than power to win. The Knoxville Dragon Boat Festival showcases competitive community and corporate teams racing for title of Grand Champion. In its 9th year, this event is the ultimate in fun and fundraising.
Each team will get practice sessions, and then race in qualifying heats for the title of Grand Champion on June 25, 2011. More information is online at www.racedragonboats.com, e-mail penny@racedragonboats.com or call 865-742-4306.
