Noah Hastings is everything I’m not. Our worlds never should have collided, but when my long-lost father reappears my life is flipped upside down. It turns out, he’s ridiculously wealthy, and without warning he plucks me from my simple life and throws me into a world of excess.

The meanest teacher ever Karen loves her second-grade teacher. Ms. Colman never yells and she makes school interesting. Karen’s class is learning about math by making pizzas! But there’s bad news. Karen and her friends are getting a substitute teacher. Mrs. Hofferman has a lot of rules, like NO TALKING. She even makes Karen clean the sink. Please come back, Ms. Colman!

NASHVILLE, TN - Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) is excited to once again open the registration portal for parents to sign their children up to compete in Tristar Reads.
Each summer, TSS invites all Tennessee students entering grades K-12 to compete for a $1,000 college scholarship by participating in the reading contest. This year, we're expanding Tristar Reads to include parents who want to read with their Pre-K children and earn free books for participating.
The contest will run from May 26 to August 3, 2026. School-aged students who read the most in the categories below will win a $1,000 college scholarship.
• One overall winner
• One elementary school student (K-4)
• One middle school student (5-8)
• One high school student (9-12)
Tennessee students thrive when they have opportunities to continue learning beyond the classroom, and summer reading is one of the best ways to help prevent the ‘summer slide’ that causes students to lose critical academic progress while school is out,” said Tennesseans for Student Success President and CEO Lana Skelo. “Studies show that students who skip reading during the summer can lose months of learning, and those setbacks can build year after year. Tristar Reads encourages students to stay engaged, strengthen their reading comprehension skills, and return to the classroom confident and ready for success in the year ahead.”
Children wishing to participate in Tristar Reads must register online and agree to keep track of all hours they spend reading and a list of the books they read. Reading logs must be submitted to Tristar Reads at the end of the summer to determine scholarship winners.
Prior Tristar Reads winners will be ineligible to compete in the same category.
TSS is additionally partnering with Atmos Energy and Vooks to provide children with access to hundreds of digital books. Students new to Vooks can sign up for a free 1-year subscription through a partnership grant from Atmos Energy.
