Salvation Army Angel Tree Registration Begins Sept. 2

KNOXVILLE - The Salvation Army of Knoxville is preparing for the 2026 Christmas season, with registration for its annual Angel Tree and Silver Bells programs beginning this week.
The Salvation Army Knoxville Area Command, which serves Knox, Anderson and Campbell counties, provides Christmas assistance for children ages 0–12 through the Angel Tree program and seniors ages 55 and older through Silver Bells.
Anderson County registration will be held Wednesday, September 2, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at YWCA Anderson County, 1660 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge.
Last year, the Knoxville Area Command provided Christmas assistance to more than 1,300 children and nearly 450 seniors. The Salvation Army expects an even greater need this Christmas and is encouraging families who need assistance to carefully review registration dates and documentation requirements.

What Families Need to Bring
Registration is conducted in person, and applicants must bring original documents. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Required documentation includes:
• An original birth certificate for each child being registered
• Valid photo identification for the parent or guardian registering
• Proof of household income and benefits
• Court documents showing custody, if applicable
• For expectant mothers, a doctor's verification of due date
Applicants may register only if they have not already registered to receive Christmas assistance through another agency in the surrounding area. This allows local organizations to work together to serve even more families.

Community Support Will Be Critical
Registration is only the first step in the Angel Tree season. Once local children and seniors have been registered, The Salvation Army will begin reaching out to businesses, organizations, churches and individuals throughout the community to adopt Angels and Silver Bells and help provide gifts for Christmas.
With a greater need anticipated this year than ever before, community participation will be especially important.
