KNOXVILLE - The Knox County Health Department and community partners are holding their 10th observation of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at UT Gardens McIlwaine Friendship Pavilion. This day provides awareness of those who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or death of an infant.
“We hope to provide a time and space for families to honor and remember their babies, however short their lives may have been,” said KCHD Health Planner Chelsea Gouty. “As we work to prevent infant loss in our community, it’s also important to provide support to those who have experienced this unimaginable tragedy.”
This event is made possible with support from UT Medical Center, UTK College of Nursing, The Precious Prints Project, Dolly Parton Children's Hospital, Catholic Charities of East TN, and Covenant Health.
KCHD also encourages families to participate in the Wave of Light that will take place across the world in memory of these losses. To do this, please safely place a candle or luminary in a place that is visible outside your home or in a window at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.
To reserve your gift, candle, and luminary at the event, please register at www.utmedical.org/events/pregnancy-infant-loss-remembrance-day.
