KNOXVILLE - A team of students from 15 area high schools will participate in an upcoming competition to determine which team will represent our region in the high school National Finals of the National Science Bowl®.
2026 marks the 36thNSB, which the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science’s runs to encourage students to pursue careers in science and math.
The event will be held on Feb. 21, 2026 at Pellissippi State Community College.
One or more teams from the following schools are competing in the regional competition:


During the competitions, students participate in a fast-paced verbal contest to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math. To prepare, teams can use sample questions from the NSB website.
Winners from each regional competition will qualify for the National Finals, held in Washington, D.C., from April 30 to May 4, 2026. Participants in the National Finals will have all expenses paid. The event features several days of science activities, sightseeing, and head-to-head competitions.
Approximately 350,000 students have participated in the National Science Bowl® in its 36-year history. Each year, more than 10,000 students across the country compete in the NSB.
