KNOXVILLE - Knox Makers, Knoxville’s largest and longest-running community makerspace, will host its 5th annual fall Maker Market on Sunday, October 4th, from 12 PM to 5 PM. The event is free, all ages, and open to the public. Explore more than 50 vendor booths featuring handmade items created by local makers, artists, engineers, and craftspeople.

A celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and hands-on making, every booth features work made by the vendor—unique art, crafts, prints, woodworking, textiles, electronics, jewelry, ceramics, gadgets, and other one-of-a-kind creations you won’t find in big-box stores.

Enjoy local food trucks, live demos, and tours and film screenings. Visitors can tour the community workshop’s 3D Printing, Arts & Crafts, Blacksmithing, Electronics, Fiber Arts, Laser Cutting, Machining, Metalworking, and Woodworking zones while learning about the tools and techniques used by Knox Makers community members. Frequent screenings will be shown of the documentary short film “Making Space,” produced by Land Grant Films at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), which premiered on WBIR+ earlier this year.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees can also check out the KILLSWITCH Cardboard Robot Combat Tournament! Watch member-built motorized gladiator machines duke it out in the Thunderdome arena, full of smashing, stabbing and burning hazards. Killswitch Cardboard is all about spectacle; every robot must incorporate at least one independently-powered weapon designed to physically damage competitors as excitingly as possible.

Whether you’re a longtime maker, curious about learning a new skill, or just looking for a fun and unique local event, the Knox Makers’ Fall Market is a great opportunity to explore Knoxville’s creative community and support local handmade work.

The market will be held at the Knox Makers facility at 116 Childress St. SW Knoxville, TN 37920, located just off of Chapman Highway with free parking nearby. Event to be held rain or shine.
