A Vigil for Israel in Knoxville
Submitted by Arnstein Jewish Community Center
Published October 12, 2023

Our hearts are shattered as we continue to watch the news and see our brothers and sisters in Israel trying to recover from the horrific attack and trying to find strength in the midst of war. Now, more than ever, it is critical that we come together and publicly display our love and support of Israel and the people who live there.

vigil for israel

Join us on Sunday, October 15 at 5:00PM at Arnstein Jewish Community Center located at 6800 Deane Hill Drive for a solidarity gathering with Israel sponsored by the Knoxville Jewish Alliance.

There will be a children's vigil with age-appropriate activities, including songs of peace and making cards for Israeli troops.

Parking is available at Arnstein Jewish Community Center, Bearden Branch library located at 100 Golf Club Road, and Erin Presbyterian Church located at 200 Lockett Road.

Due to the nature of this program, security will be onsite. No backpacks or large bags will be permitted, and all attendees are subject to search.

In response to the crisis, an emergency fundraising effort has been launched. We are working with partners on the ground, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and the lsrael Trauma Coalition, as they are prepared to provide the critical care and support to those affected. KJA has opened a local fund that will be sent directly to these partner agencies in Israel. You can donate or request a collection of items by visiting www.jewishknoxville.org/israel-crisis.

The KJA stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel as we pray for our families and friends and for the safety of Israel. Am Yisrael Chai - the people of Israel live!
