KNOXVILLE -- On Dec. 7, Morning Pointe Senior Living presented its 2022 Community of the Year Award to Morning Pointe of Powell Assisted Living.

The award is based on an overall look at the community’s performance in multiple areas, including customer service, fiscal responsibility, turnover percentage and support of the company’s Morning Pointe Foundation, a nonprofit that provides caregiver support and education, as well as scholarships.

Morning Pointe of Powell achieved this award as the top performing team among the company’s 37 communities in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

This year marks the company’s 25th anniversary, and it has been a big year for the Powell campus as well. Just after The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Powell opened its doors this summer, Morning Pointe of Powell Assisted Living converted its memory care unit into additional assisted living apartments to welcome more seniors into the community.

“It’s a huge honor to work for such a great company, and as soon as they announced Morning Pointe of Powell for Community of the Year, I thought of my amazing team!” said Leslee Wilkinson, executive director at Morning Pointe of Powell Assisted Living. “I missed them being right there to accept the award with me!”

Greg A. Vital, president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living, shared: “Congratulations to Morning Pointe of Powell. It has been a year of tremendous growth, and we are so proud of how our associates have risen to the occasion to surpass the expectations of residents and the community at large. You can feel the positive difference this building is making when you talk to the residents and their families. Morning Pointe of Powell is truly leading the way in senior living.”

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states and is celebrating its silver anniversary throughout 2022.
