Spirit Award Dinner returns to honor Beth Haynes & Russell Biven
September 8, 2021

KNOXVILLE - Beth Haynes and Russell Biven will be honored at the 2021 Spirit Award Dinner benefiting the McNabb Center. The event will be held Tuesday, September 21st at Lakeshore Park.

The Spirit Award Dinner began in 2004 to recognize individuals who have supported the efforts of the McNabb Center and have worked selflessly to improve the community as a whole. Beth and Russell have made a long-lasting impact on the East Tennessee community through their time working together at WBIR-TV and headlining fundraising events on behalf of the Center.

Beth has volunteered for many non-profit agencies in Knoxville and, in 2012, helped the Helen Ross McNabb Foundation launch the Beth Haynes 12 Days of Christmas Online Auction, which raised more than $100,000 in 2020. The event helps provide holiday gifts and experiences for child clients of the McNabb Center.

Russell has also dedicated countless hours to numerous area non-profit organizations. The Helen Ross McNabb Foundation has been fortunate to have Russell as the face of the Russell Biven Clayfest for more than 15 years. Under his leadership, the event has quadrupled in revenue, raising nearly $100,000 at the 2021 event.

“Beth and Russell are incredible friends of the McNabb Center,” said Jerry Vagnier, McNabb Center CEO. “As journalists, they have raised awareness of the issues faced by our community and, as local celebrities, they’ve helped raise funds that ensure our services continue.”
