Beck Young People's Council makes statement on Capitol Hill events

KNOXVILLE - Today, the Young People’s Council with the Beck Cultural Exchange Center condemns the actions that took place on Capitol Hill Wednesday, January 6, 2021. A spokeman said "The riot occurred on the basis of misinformation and falsehoods delivered by President Trump and other elected officials. It displayed a lack of leadership, white supremacy and privilege. A clear double standard was portrayed, with the lack of authority and punishment concerning the domestic terrorists who raided the Capitol, compared to the mistreatment of peaceful protesters in the Black Lives Matter protests. As we reflect on this terrible event, we need to again stand up for what is right and hold our elected officials more accountable for the things they let continue to happen in our country."
