Catherine “Cathy” Mathes, M.D., has joined the Summit Medical Group office of Dr. Punam Bhandari, M.D., in Knoxville as a physician partner. Now practicing under the name of Punam Bhandari, M.D. and Catherine Mathes, M.D. Internal Medicine, the office currently is accepting new patients.

Mathes specializes in the diagnosis, management and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions, internal medicine and primary care. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

Mathes received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1985. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in 1990. Mathes is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) and Knoxville Academy of Medicine (KAM).

Prior to joining Dr. Punam Bhandari, M.D. & Dr. Catherine Mathes, M.D. Internal Medicine, she was a physician partner at Tennessee Center for Internal Medicine (TCIM), an affiliate of Summit Medical Group.

Mathes has lived in the Farragut community for 25 years and enjoys reading, travel and fly fishing in her free time.
