Started in February 2020, local UT alumnus, Alex Clark, launched a mountain bike riding experience for all riders from Beginner to Expert. As a South Knoxvillian, Alex has been riding and watching the emergence of Knoxville, TN as an Eastern USA mountain biking destination.

“Knoxville boasts over 100+ miles of singletrack mountain biking all within the city limits. The wide variety of trails is available thanks for hard work from the local Appalachian Mountain Bike Club – ‘AMBC’. There are more trails built everyday out here” -Alex, Founder and Owner

Knoxville known Nationwide

Every year Knoxville has been building more trails and now that steady progress has begun attracting frequent visitors from outside state lines. Knoxville Outdoor Tours provides guided trips throughout the vast Urban Wilderness for those that may not know which trails are best.

“With so many out of town riders visiting Knoxville my company shows them the best trails based on their experience level. The idea is for the rider to put away their maps and their guide will show them trails perfectly suited towards them – to maximize their fun here.”

Post-Corona Growth

Despite a less-than-optimal year to start a business, clients are now pouring into Knoxville taking advantage of the wilderness while still allowing access to the great restaurants and breweries located only minutes from the trailhead. In many cases these new visitors are attracted to Knoxville due to its relative close location from anywhere on the East Coast. Additionally, many trails systems remain closed elsewhere.

Knoxville Outdoor Tours (KNOT) is taking every recommended precaution with new clients including touchless greetings and consistent distance between riders on the trails. “I believe our greeting for the future, at most, is a fist-bump to our clients while also respecting a simple wave “hello” based off personal preferences.” -Alex.

Knoxville Outdoor Tours also wants current Knox County residents to experience the joys of mountain biking. Knox County residents are eligible for 20% off a guided ride that explores the entire South Knoxville trail system – at any pace.

While riding, customers can expect personalized coaching and opportunities to progress their riding, action shots included!

KNOT has teamed up with other local small businesses to leverage the natural resources uniquely available in downtown Knoxville.

Customers can expect collaborations with other well-known Knoxville businesses in the future to create a weekend “where folks can come ride bikes, float the river, and have dinner all for one low rate.”
